Mental Contracts: The Way To Create Everlasting Knowledge
The story explains the revolution of keeping knowledge immortal.
Nova Kent, a smart, intelligent biotechnology engineer from Trivago is the man to thank for this innovation.
The year is 2104. He is about to take the mantle of something. Something else. Something to prevent death takes something away. And it’s not life or sorrow but something greater. He’s staring at a computer screen. Contemplating. The digital clock beeps every minute. Every minute goes by emphasizing the amount of time it’s taking him to finalize his decision. It was only his second year at his new position at VanceLabs where he worked with the founder themselves to form and successfully achieve the ideas of bringing biology and advanced technology to do wonders. The young man (Nova) and the founder’s successes created a bond of respect and friendship for one another. Nervous with feelings of fear without a mind made up, Nova is in quite the dilemma. But how did this happen?
Let’s roll back and look at the sequence of events…
Nova Kent grew up in a rich and lavish life with little to zero money struggles such as that he’d never have to fear his parent’s income for the year would fall short for their essentials. Nevertheless, he wanted to create his own path of his own success rather than live off from his parent’s success. He once thought that if all of his parents’ money was taken away from him, what would he be? The answer would always be nothing. This motivated him to do better along with creating bigger and more fulfilling dreams. He would use his parents’ success to pave and help him create his own. He was always the “topper” in his studies leading him to have success and respect from his teachers. He was always interested in the biology of humans and the gadgets and advancements of technology that he could never get too much of. This compelled him to become high in both of those fields and create a connection between the two with the goal of making humidity stronger than ever mentally and physically.
Nova would sketch ideas and write about his biology and technology ideas in his notebook. He once sketched a robot that had healing capabilities.
However, incidents in the world saddened him. He was seeing racial discrimination growing up, He wondered why people would fight for religion, political views, and everything else that makes one so unique and diverse. Why can’t the world be a happy place to live? Why nobody cares for the environment. 50 years ago, people sought to discredit anything proving that climate change was very real and pretend that the world was right in their narrow minds. Now look; The ice caps have melted. The world is boiling the oceans and removing salt from them to drink. SOME billionaires (unlike Nova’s parents) of the world are living in the upper class doing nothing while everyone else is suffering. Today’s generation is fighting to fix their mistakes first.
After graduating from college with PHDs/majors from both courses, he focused on expanding his knowledge more in both fields, and after that phase, he was starting his own company when he got bought by one of the most intelligent and successful men on the planet of Earth, Micheal Vance. He was the first person to release a tech product that could “fabricate” medicine to heal wounds easily in their own home. They only knew of each other mutually but they were both after the same idea coincidently; How to keep one’s knowledge alive.
After making a deal with each other to work together as partners with Micheal leading the company to catch the idea, they start to get close. Becoming friends was the easy part, finishing their mission wasn’t. While getting to know Micheal, Nova learned so much that gave him more expertise in his field and life. He even went as far to feel that he’s almost nothing in the eyes of Micheal and like a son to him but was never too keen to share that with his partner as that would both redden his expression and well his ego did prevent him. In due time, however, life took one of the greatest minds away. Stage 4 Cancer took away Nova’s mentor.
He couldn’t come to terms with his death. He knew his dangerous stage of cancer but wanted to stay aloof from the truth so that it wouldn’t cloud his judgment and prevent him from moving forward. That didn’t pan out as planned as from the grief of the loss, he wanted to escape from VanceLabs but he knew he made a moral obligation yet he still doesn’t know what to do.
He sits in his office reading the letter that reads the will of his mentor.
Present time
He’s staring at a computer screen. Contemplating. The digital clock beeps every minute. Every minute goes by emphasizing the amount of time it’s taking him to finalize his decision.
“Do I have the strength to go on without my mentor? Will I be able to lead your company in the right direction and come out the other side as a successful man or a failure.” He thought to himself.
Suddenly, he remembered a quote Micheal Vance would use to say;
“Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient” — Steve M.
After thinking deeply about how he will come across moments like this, staying strong and resilient is the answer.
He stares at the computer screen that read, ‘Mental Constructs — Backing up the Mind.’
“I need to get my butt out of this and get to the boardroom. Life’s too short.” He said to himself.
